The Moto Solo Tent features a spacious 27-square foot interior with 37 inches of sit-up height in a package that weighs less than 3 pounds. The Moto expands on its basic bivy structure with a large entry and a front vestibule for gear storage. Unlike many low-weight bivy shelters, the Moto offers front-to-back ventilation with a mesh-vented swallowtail pattern at the foot and mesh at the front. In inclement weather, the ExoFly seals the entry and vestibule from the wind and rain while the swallowtail continues to ventilate the tent. But the most unique aspect of the Moto is AirSupported Technology which replaces traditional tent poles with an inflatable AirBeam that supports the tent's structure. This AirBeam both cuts down on packed size and weight, allowing the Moto to be contained in small packs and panniers, and provides greater stability and buoyancy in wind. Using the included Integrated Pump, inflation takes about 30 seconds. The Moto comes complete with a watertight stuff sack, stakes, an extra bladder, and a repair kit.

About AirSupported Technology from NEMO:
AirSupported Technology (AST) is NEMO'S unique interpretation of inflatable structure for application in lightweight backcountry shelters. The advantages of NEMO's AST compared to traditional tent poles include faster and easier setup, greater strength and wind resistance, smaller packing, the ability to bend without breaking, and easy repair in the field.
When properly inflated, NEMO'S AirBeams can be considerably stronger than traditional aluminum tent poles. In one test, the larger Morpho AirBeam withstood more than twice the downward force compared to a standard tent pole. One of the other advantages of AirBeams is that even if you bend them all the way to the ground, they simply spring back into shape. Optimal air pressure for a NEMO AirBeam is between 7 and 9 psi. NEMO pumps are designed to deliver exactly the right amount of pressure to the AirBeam.
NEMO AST is capable of withstanding a wide range of conditions as well as dramatic changes in temperature. At its recommended inflation pressure of 7 psi, a swing from freezing point (32 degrees Fahrenheit) all the way to the most searing heat (120 degrees Fahrenheit) only increases the AirBeam pressure to 8.2 psi--not even close to the 20 psi minimum burst pressure of the AirBeams. Starting in intense heat (120 degrees Fahrenheit) and dropping to freezing point (32 degrees Fahrenheit) results in a pressure of 5.9 psi--still enough pressure to maintain the tent structure. The tents have been tested to withstand winds and weather with as little as 4 psi of pressure. More likely temperature fluctuations such as from 90 degrees Fahrenheit to 50 degrees Fahrenheit produce less than 1 psi of change.
Replaceable Internal AirBeam Bladder:
While the outer sailcloth shell (Dimension-Polyant PM02T multi-laminate X-PLY fabric) of the AirBeam provides the shape and puncture resistance of the AirBeam, the polyurethane bladder inside actually holds the air. Every tent comes with at least one spare bladder. The AirBeams should never be damaged during ordinary use, however accidents do happen. In the event of a puncture, the spare bladder can replace the damaged bladder. The damaged bladder can be pulled out of the AirBeam, patched with the included patch kit, and kept as a spare.
AirBeam Integrated Pump:
The Integrated Pump takes the 1 or 2 psi that you are able to blow with your lungs and amplifies it to the 7 to 9 psi you need to inflate a NEMO AirBeam. Use the Integrated Pump by blowing into the peanut shaped belly of the pump and squeezing or stepping on the belly. Internal valves send the air out of the pump and into the tent. The pump weighs less than 4 ounces and packs into the stuff sack of any NEMO tent.

I bought this tent 5 months ago and have stayed in it a dozen times, in varying weather and terrain. My first impression of the tent was that it was of very high quality, the workmanship and materials are top notch. Set up could not be easier or faster. The air beam is easy to inflate and takes no longer than 30 seconds. After tensioning the tent, it is very sturdy and I have no reservations using it in the backwoods. Taking the tent down is just as fast and love the fact I can break camp so quickly. The weight and size are also a huge plus, with a compression sack I can get the whole tent as small as a cantaloupe. The space inside is where this tent excels it is huge and is very comfortable. I am 5 10 and can sit up at the air beam. I went through a pretty bad Florida storm in this tent with high winds and supstantial rain. The tent did excellent in the wind and did not fold on me at all. It also kept me very dry there where no problems with water inside the tent at all. As for condensation (which is a problem most the time for me in Florida) there was very little and no more than a double wall tent, I think this can be attributed to the clever design. There are vents on both ends of the tent and they do a great job of ventilation. Overall I love this tent and it does just what it is supposed to with out the clutter of tent poles. I would purchase this again and have no issues with the air pole. I do not believe the price is steep for what you get. I could not disagree more with the 1 star review given by the other reviewer.

I was really excited to see a pole-less tent specifically marketed towards motorcyclists.
I bought this to try on a baja trip coming up and have taken it for a few tests.
The tent sets up easily enough, although it has almost no structural integrity unless you really do a great job staking it down.
Unfortunately this can be more difficult than it sounds depending on the terrain.
This, of course, is the trade-off with going pole-less so it packs up tiny.
I was disappointed in the overall quality of the stitching and the way the footprint attaches to the tent and the connectors in general.
It is not nearly as nice as the sierra designs tents that I am used to.
I also had a couple simple questions about the tent so I've tried to contact their technical support.
Getting any responses out of their staff has been difficult, and when they do respond they won't leave you with the impression that they are happy to have you as a customer.
For a $300 tent this is pretty inexcusable. If not, for this I probably would have given it a 3-star.
Bottom line: neat idea with promise, but i'd wait for a someone to do it right.
